We finished our Saturday shift today at 2:30pm and went and did a few things that needed attention before Sunday. Finding time to go for a fun walk down to the Hudson River, Stan had two phone calls he needed to return. As we were sitting on the pier on 68th Street, we noticed something in the sky coming from Lower Manhattan. A blimp!
It got closer and closer. The weather was perfect and there was no wind. Stan had just received word from the Temple Department that his two counselors had been called. They both had called him while we were in the Temple.
We couldn't really make out what was written on the blimp as it flew right over us. Stan called his first counselor and they had a great visit. It was a relief for him that these men were called and they can move on to some items that need attention.
After his phone call I phoned the first counselor's wife, my assistant matron, to offer her my support and appreciation. We are not sure what the eye on the side of the blimp was for. The same painting was on the other side which made it look even a little more strange.
Then the blimp turned east and headed inland. Stan then called the second counselor and had another nice visit with him. He knows neither of these men that well. In fact, he is not sure he has ever met the second counselor before but only knows of him.
The blimp headed on and was moving at a pretty good clip. We are glad the counselors and their wives have accepted the callings. We can now get to know them a little before we return home in mid-September.
The blimp is probably over Central Park by now. We sat and talked about our phones calls and how blessed we are.
The sun is heading down. What a wonderful day. We served in the Temple this morning and had many choice experiences. We had a nice stroll down 66th Street to the Hudson River and enjoyed the scenery and the weather. Then we had some memorable visits with some special people that we will grow to love and appreciate so very much as time goes on. We are really blessed!
