American Theatre Ballet

We finally went to a ballet...Sleeping Beauty.   Stan thought all ballets were called "Sleeping Beauties"!
It was a sold-out performance at the Metropolitan Opera House as Sleeping Beauty is a favorite amongst classical ballets.
Inside the theater waiting for the ballet to begin. This is the 75th Anniversary of the American Ballet Company which began in 1940. This company has toured the world representing America and the art of ballet.
From the 'Wedding Scene'...The King and Queen, Aurora's parents. The famous composer, Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky wrote the score for this magnificent ballet.
Aurora and her Prince...from the Wedding Scene. The ballerina who dances the part of Aurora is given the challenge of dancing one of the hardest characters in all ballet. Aurora must dance like a little girl in the first part of the play then dance like a much more mature woman after she is awakened after 100 years. She also performs the hardest dance in all of ballet with 4 princes who are trying to win her heart in the 16th Birthday scene.
It was a great night out....and I think even Stan enjoyed himself! At least he knew the storyline!
