We took the Red 1 subway to Columbus Circle then the D to 161st Street in the Bronx. It wasn't a game day, so there weren't too many of us heading to the Stadium.
The "New" Yankee Stadium was completed in 2008 and across the street was the site of the old Stadium.
This is what is called the Great Hall. Maris, Berra, Gehrig, DaMaggio, Mantle, Howard were lined up in banners on this side and the back side were the more current players.
Inside Yankee Museum, Stan had a field day. Roger Maris' jersey and his bat.
and an autographed baseball by Maris and then
a picture of his two favorites- Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle. I didn't know he knew so much about Yankee baseball history.
These two old gloves (Mantle and Maris) looked like a couple we had laying around in our closet a few years ago. I guess these two are worth a lot more than ours...
The field outside with all the rain. Stan was a little disappointed in the Stadium. The history and magic of Yankee Stadium was there but he said the design and layout of the new stadium was "plain Jane".
Out in Centerfield in Monument Park. The famous players and Yankee personnel have special monuments and plaques honoring them. This was pretty cool. Believe it or not, I can't wait to return to see a Yankee's game...soon!
