An historic day! I finished the 3rd and FINAL book from the 'NielsonsinPoland' Mission Blog. The other two were completed last fall. Because we decided to go on another mission sooner than expected, I ran out of time and had to bring some 'unfinished business' with us to New York. Like the other two books, this 3rd volume is over 420 pages and details almost ever day of the last year of our mission in Poland. This final endeavor is a culmination of 1000's (not exaggerating!) of hours of work...but truly a great remembrance of a wonderful time in our lives!
To celebrate this event, we decided to walk across the street to Lincoln Center to see about purchasing tickets to a ballet.....'Yes', I said 'ballet'. And 'Yes', Stan is going with me! (Probably a 'thank you' for finishing the blog books!)
Crossing Broadway, we ran right into a protest...Marchers with signs, all demonstrating peacefully for a raise in the minimum wage to $15 per hour. A representation of the 35,000 policemen who serve in New York were on hand to make sure everyone behaved themselves...and they did.
The marchers were followed by a lively band. There is always something going on in the streets of New York!
Before we made it into the Metropolitan Opera for ballet tickets, we passed this billboard for 'The King and I'. Hearing that it supposed to be a great show, we couldn't resist buying a pair.
After purchasing tickets for the 'Sleeping Beauty' ballet performed by the American Ballet Company, we ran into these two 'future' ballerinas who were in town for a dance competition.
Continuing celebrating the finishing of the last blog book, we sauntered down to 5th Avenue and visited the famous toy store, FAO Schwarz. I love this store...especially the 'Barbie' section. Can't wait to take the grandkids here!
Next door to FAO Schwarz is the big 'Apple' cube where you descend to one of the coolest 'Apple' stores in the country. When the girls and I were here at Christmas time, there was a long line waiting to ride down the escalator. Today, it wasn't so busy!
Across the street, The Plaza Hotel...landmark for so many movies! This is a great town and we love serving here!
